Our History

MJ Christensen Diamonds was founded in 1939 by Marcus Joy Christensen, whose passion for fine timepieces began while working as a railroad watch inspector for Union Pacific in Las Vegas. His commitment to precision and ethics became the foundation of the small jewelry store he opened at the corner of First and Fremont. Over the decades, MJ Christensen grew from that humble downtown location into a trusted destination for both locals and celebrities—always guided by Marcus’s values of integrity and quality. Today, those same principles continue to define the company as it proudly serves the Las Vegas community over 85 years later.

Heart, Legacy, and Community at MJ Christensen Diamonds

Cliff and Darlene Miller are the owners of MJ Christensen Diamonds, continuing a proud legacy built on trust, quality, and community. With over 50 years in the jewelry industry, Cliff's career spans from stock boy to president to CEO, culminating in the 2006 acquisition of MJ Christensen Diamonds. His leadership blends deep expertise with a relationship-first philosophy that has helped the business thrive—even through economic challenges. As Cliff says, "We build relationships—we don't just have the talk, we walk the walk."

Darlene brings equal passion to the business, leading MJ’s philanthropic mission. Named one of Las Vegas’s most influential women in charitable giving, she has supported organizations such as Opportunity Village, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Best Buddies, and Dress for Success Southern Nevada. Her leadership has earned honors like the Golden Hands Service Award and the Silver State Humanitarian Award, further cementing her role as a champion for the community.

Together, Cliff and Darlene have made giving back a central part of MJ Christensen’s purpose. From supporting ethical diamond sourcing through the Diamond Empowerment Fund to hosting in-store fundraisers, they’ve shaped a business where compassion matters just as much as craftsmanship.

Rusty Miller, represents the next generation of leadership. With over 30 years of experience, advanced GIA and AGS credentials, and a passion for meaningful design, Rusty has helped countless clients create custom jewelry that tells their unique story. He brings an energetic, hands-on approach to both design and customer care—always eager to listen, collaborate, and turn a personal vision into a wearable work of art. Whether he's sketching a new engagement ring or walking clients through heirloom redesigns, Rusty blends creativity, skill, and heart in every interaction.
